Good morning... sun is shining.... I wore shorts for the first time all season this month (March) can you believe it!
Timeskip Ok Now it is June. Blog fell to the wayside while I was running around feverishly finishing my classes and traveling with friends !!!!! Going to attempt to recap all of that BUT FIRST...
Black Sheep EP by Chrysalis and Entifan is out :D Seriously some of the most joyous sessions I have been a part of thus far. This EP makes me think of sunshine and mosquitoes and Ugly Mugs honey and feta toast... I'm so happy these songs are out in the world and that I get to play themmmm later this month! (prod/mix) Also living in the world now is Again by Anna Vtipil, one of my favorite songwriters on this earthly plane, (mix) and the deluxe edition of Sweetness by Girlpuppy, which includes one more song I had the absolute joy of assisting on at DOS :)
March is where everything kind of started to click in, as per my life in Ireland. Went out on a hike with the mountaineering club FINALLY and had many a sweet night with food and friends and firepit (the three key Fs). Heavy month for field recording (the fourth F), our class went out and explored a beach with these ridiculous caves... got sunburnt!!! Saw beautiful art, went to the Guesthouse a lot, and can now never drink Buckfast again.
In April Clara came to visit and we went on our big adventure! Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Lyon, and a bunch of places in Switzerland around Lake Geneva. We ate so much good food and went to a billion museums and conducted extensive study of European public transport. I also kept up religiously with a junk journal/diary detailing our time and subsequently have found ways to love collaging that I did not know were possible. Got back to Cork with a week to finish all my finals. Knit some wires, went to an overnight rave (I will never do this again), became a regular at the Friary (more on that later), put together many an anagram.
MAY. A most auspicious month. Started off the month by seeing Gabrielle Aplin who I believe I have been listening to for 10 years at this point?? Very surreal. My last day in Ireland I started with an english exam and then somehow saw every single friend I had made in my time there. Like at a certain point it was running into people on the street levels of serendipitous. I can't believe it !!! It feels like it was no time at all. I miss it a lot right now. I knew this would happen (or at least I hoped so-- the missing is an indicator something good was made) but still somehow I wasn't prepared. Also in May I went to my stepbrother's wedding and got to stay with Paige in her DC apartment. Another (!) extremely surreal thing-- we were babies together and now we are living full adult lives, more or less.
AND THAT IS NOT ALL! We went so hard on being Friary regulars that we were entered in a regulars only raffle... and WON.... a trip to Valéncia :00000000 You're joking me. So we went and it was so awesome. Spent so much time on the beach, beat the Quarry, went to a sick aquarium, explored the city, ate epic food, and on and on !!!!!
After all that I went back home and MOVED TO ASHEVILLE !! Job/house hunting while living with family. Trying to figure out what life looks like without a big action item. It's freaking me out but I'm also excited-- life is so open! Spending as much time outside as possible, preparing for mini tour with Chrysalis/Entifan and my first Wulfer/LB shows in ages !! Sometimes life gets so fast it feels like I am clawing at it to keep it together. I am trying to remember to slow down. And that pretty much brings us up to speed!
Hi it's October....... got overwhelmed by the prospect of adding pictures to this so I abandoned the whole blog for a bit lol. But now I'm back :) Leaving this for posterity
